Thank you for your responses.
Firefox crashed the second time that the laptop was booted with nothing,
that I've added, in the mozilla directory. I'll try your suggestion
anyway, at least it may eliminate another possibility.
Firefox crashes on boot up only, so starting from the console does not
provide any useful information. I can start Firefox a dozen times
without failure, it only crashes on boot up.
Perhaps Firefox is not the problem after all, I'll take your advice
David and test the memory.
