[Kubuntu 14.10] - Dead On Arrival?

Hi,

I've been using Kubuntu for a few years now.

I tried Kubuntu 14.10 64Bit on the following:
- Intel Core i5 3GHz/8GB DDR3 RAM/nVidia Geforce GTS 450 1GB 
GDDR5(installs but does not run)
- AMD FX 3.5GHz/32GB DDR3 RAM/AMD Radeon HD 7800 2GB GDDR5 (installs but 
does not run)
- VirtualBox under Windows 8.1 Pro 64Bit host (does not install)

Kubuntu 14.10 refused to run on all 3 of the above?
So 14.10 is dead on arrival for me.
I suspect it's the video drivers, but not sure.

Will Kubuntu 15.04 solve these issues?
