DVD Drive has stopped working after Dapper upgrade

Since I updated to Dapper a couple weeks ago, I have been unable to
use my DVD drive. I thought at first it was due to a bad DVD, but it
turns out this is not the case. It will read no other discs in the
drive (burned, pressed, cd, dvd).

Before I upgraded to Dapper, the cdrom was located at /dev/hdb, as
indicated by /etc/fstab:
/dev/hdb /media/cdrom0 udf,iso9660 ro,user,noauto 0 0

But now only hda is listed in /dev.

lsmod includes the 'cdrom' module:
cdrom 41408 1 sr_mod

/proc/ide only includes hda
and /proc/ide/drivers only contains 'ide-disk version 1.18'

Executing sudo mount /media/cdrom0 yields:
mount: special device /dev/hdb does not exist

None of syslog, dmesg, messages or kern.log yield anything when
grepped for cd or dvd.

Anyone have any ideas?

Cheers,

Richard
