Problems with Recent updates ond Dell Latitude D810

Yesterday I upgraded my kubuntu dapper build on a Latitude D810 and an
updated kernel (2.6.15-17-386) came across.  I needed to restart things
yesterday and could not get KDM and everything to come backup.  I am still
having this problem, but can get everything working correctly if I boot
using kernel 2.6.15-16-386.  Just wondering if anyone else has had any
problems like this?

I did try to boot to the "failsafe" and reconfigure X but that didn't solve
my problem
