Mouse/Touchpad stops working on "Switch User".

Hi all!!
When try and "Switch User" the login screen appears as it should, but
my touchpad no longer works. I can login as a different user - the
keyboard still works but no touchpad. If I switch back to the original
logged in user with Ctrl+Alt+F7 the touchpad works again. It's almost
like it's locked to whoever logs in first.
After attempting to switch user and the touchpad stopped working, I
plugged in a usb mouse to see what would happen. Not only did the usb
mouse work, but the touchpad also worked again!!
I have no idea what package is responsible for this behaviour so I
don't know where to report a bug or what log files I could check to
see what goes wrong. I found no information that looked related syslog
and nothing that looked out of place in Xorg.0.log either - then
again, I don't know what I'm looking for.
Any ideas of what I can do? Or where I can report this? :-)
I'm running Feisty on a Dell Inspiron 640m.
My xorg.conf file is attached.
Tim
