ubuntu live lockup at logon

Hi

    this is one of the problem's that happens when you can't tell if its hardware or a bad burn. Here's is a link you can check out but I'm not quit sure what to say. I do no you can try a different ver. os ubuntu. To tell if it's a change in a package.
what brand is the usb cdrom or cypto stick.

This makes me think that the Universal Host Controller is not supported by ubuntu.
