Part of what makes Launchpad interesting is that it makes it easy for
anyone to contribute to a project. Common, fixed bug statuses across all
projects are really important to that.
With Launchpad, new users only need learn what each bug status means
once. It also makes it much easier for projects to collaborate.
Input from projects using Launchpad is vital, so if you have suggestions
for bug statuses that you feel are missing, please post them to this
mailing list.

Launchpad doesn't have the facility to turn off certain bug statuses, as
that reduces the usefulness of shared, fixed bug statuses. Would you be
able to ask your team not to use "Fix committed"?
