Hi,
We've got exciting plans for the future of Launchpad!
We're developing new functionality that will make it easier for you to
collaborate on free software projects. To ensure Launchpad fulfils your
needs, we're giving you the chance to test new features before we make
them public.
From now on, when a new Launchpad feature is ready for beta testing we
will:
1. Email all Launchpad beta testers to introduce the new feature.
2. Redirect Launchpad beta testers to beta.launchpad.net while the new
feature is in testing.
3. Once we've gathered enough feedback and operational data, we'll
remove the feature from the beta site and disable the redirect.
If you're a beta tester, you can help us by:
* Reporting bugs about beta features.
* Telling the Launchpad team how well beta features meets your needs -
feedback at launchpad.net or launchpad-users mailing list.
* Using beta features as much as possible.
You don't need to tell us about OOPSes as we monitor them closely.
Previously, we asked beta testers not to post screen shots of the beta
interface. Now, we ask that you don't publicly discuss features that are
in beta testing. However, we're happy to see such discussion on the
launchpad-users list.
Our reason is simple: not everyone uses the Launchpad beta and we don't
want to confuse non-testers. Also, the version we release publicly may
be significantly different to the beta version.
If you're not already in the Launchpad Beta Testers team, you can join at:
https://launchpad.net/~launchpad-beta-testers/
We look forward to hearing your feedback about the new features we test
over the coming months.
Thanks.
