I find that statement really hard to sympathize with. The user will need
to be identified to manipulate his ML subscription -- so what difference
does it make if it's a Launchpad account or a mailing list account? At
least with Launchpad it's a single account for any Launchpad-hosted
mailing list.

Except they don't really, since you need to register separately for each
SF-hosted mailing list.
