No WiFi on Acer Aspire One, how to get it to detect it?

Excellent, thank you, it's turned on:-

   chris at acer-aspire:~$ rfkill list
    0: acer-wireless: Wireless LAN
        Soft blocked: no
        Hard blocked: no
    1: phy0: Wireless LAN
        Soft blocked: no
        Hard blocked: no
    chris at acer-aspire:~$

So all I need to do now is work out why it doesn't work!  :-)
 
When I installed Lubuntu I did a minamal "lubuntu core" installation, do
I need to add something to enable me to manage network/WiFi connections
(e.g. Network Manager or wicd)?
