How to manage GUI and documentation translation for the same project

If you're asking from the "upstream author" point of view, you can use
gettext with different prefixes to extract a different set of strings
depending on what is being translated.

For example, gtk+ has a translation for the main GUI stuff in the po/
directory, and aother set of translations for the properties in
po-properties dir. You translate both separately.

No. In rosetta, you can create multiple po templates that bind to a
single product. In the example above, GTK+2.0 would have both "gtk20"
and "gtk20-properties" templates.

For documentation it'd be the same: Say GTrue was to be translated in
rosetta: you'd have a "gtrue" template with the GUI, and a "gtrue-doc"
template for the docs, but both would be listed in the "gtrue" product.

See Zope, for example. They have a few.
