can't log in on ubuntu core console via sso...

Trying ubuntu core on the pi3 for the first time.  Install went fine,
and I can ssh to the box just fine,
and I can do 'sudo snap login myemail' ok,
but I can't log in on the console.  It doesn't seem to accept my
launchpad userid and password :-(

Is that related to
