Most likely the snap was partly configured to run elsewhere, but not
entirely.

We really need to have someone looking into this package, preferably just
restoring the standard /snap path.

Can you rebuild the package and try that out?  Would be a nice data point.
If you can't or don't want to, that's okay. I'm sure the package maintainer
will look into that.
