Snappy
Hello.
I don't know if this is the right mailininglist to ask this. If not I'm
sorry, please could you redirect me to the right one?
With all the Juju and now snappy stuff on the Ubuntu plate I'm still a
little bit confused but I think I got the gist of it:
Juju:
is for managing all your services (such as Wordpress, SQL, etc) on all your
different Hardware servers that are combined to a single Cloud (via MAAS?).
You can create or destroy these services within minutes and have a pool of
pre-created charms at your disposel so you don't have to do the same work
someone else already did.
Snappy:
is the offspring of click package-system and it keeps the applications
seperated from each other and the OS. Each System should look like the
original and by this you get the certainty that the Software that works on
your framework will also work on those out there in the wild. + Your System
updates itself automatically if you want, therefore keeping you always safe
new threats like Heartbleed etc.
Ubuntu Core for IoT:
Is the distilled version of ubuntu with it's core components. Made ready to
use as few resources as possible. So not coming with a GUI, just like
Ubuntu Server.
I really like the ideas behind these technologys.
What I want to ask now is this:
Is it possible or planed to combine these systems?
Like juju-GUI for management of your Snappy Ubuntu Core with an app store?
What I would like to be able to is setting up own private Cloud (Seafile or
OwnCloud) on my own litte Server (RaspberryPi or Beaglebone Black because
of ARM not supported unfortunatelly) at home. Package everthing together
and put it in the store just like a charm on juju. So that everybody and I
don't have to repeat everthing again.
What I would also like would be an graphical interface (juju) so that I can
manage the individual data oft those apps, like where to save my files,
activating https etc.
This way everybody even my family would be able to have their own Cloud,
Emailserver, Contacssync-server, ....
It would be possible for ordinary people to live Mord save in a world to
know everything about you.
If this is already posible, please please direct me to the right infopage
so I can get started to write my charms/app-services or whatever WE would
call this.
Thank you very much.
