k9copy (and if you want to burn it then burn it with k3b.)[1]

In k9copy specify the destination directory on the external.

[1] Oh, if it is a single sided DVD (ie dvd5) then configure k9 for 
4400mb size output file; if a dvd9 then set it to 8000mb.
