Please backport maverick's version of ec2-ami-tools (1.3.49953-0ubuntu1)
to 10.04.

this version does nothing more than add support for the ap-southeast-1
region to the version available.

I've added a no-source-change build to my ppa at
https://launchpad.net/~smoser/+archive/ppa .
