I've tested the ppa build above on lucid and verified that it functions.

I'm only not sure about the numbering that I used (obviously) '~ppa0' is not valid for backports.  I used:
1.3.49953-0ubuntu1.10.04.1

I'm fairly sure that '0ubuntu1.10.04.1' is wrong as that it is >=  than
the value in maverick 1.3.49953-0ubuntu1 .

Other than that, this is ready to go.
