That's not bad, I think, and thus it sounds like your codec is a good
idea.

I suspect it's something along the lines of what cross-platform remote
desktop applications like VNC use?

I guess the Flash version you need is installed on no more than about 70
or 80% (and maybe less!) of all desktop/laptop computers. (For your
public the market penetration is maybe significantly higher though,.)

AFAIK there is also no flash-player for the new Intel-Macs yet...
