Same problem on My Acer Ferrari 3400.
Ubuntu Natty 64bits
2.6.38-8-generic x86_64
lsusb: Bus 004 Device 004: ID 0a12:0001 Cambridge Silicon Radio, Ltd Bluetooth Dongle (HCI mode)

Above suggested workarounds works for me too.
