You might want to wander over to a local LUG then. Here in Calgary, they
meet every month or so, and might know more about the local scene.
Perhaps it might be easier to just start seeking out a market that you're
planning to target with your ASP, and then find out just what alternatives
there are. Last time that I looked, the open source A/V production tools on
linux (granted, this was a long time ago) were not that mature and were few
and far between.
It might be a tough search. Hopefully, someone else that's more familiar
with ubuntu can give you better direction.
