After using the "uninstaller" I had to remove an older /etc/vmware 
directory that was left behind. I actually just copied it just in case. 
I like the fact that the new installer is a pain if you have older 
manually installed stuff, however it's a bit of work if you are the kind 
of person that keeps trying and installing 
early/experimental/unsupported versions.
