Hello:
I used to get about 10 E-mails from the list a week minimum, but lately
one or none.
1) On some Web Sites I go to that make use of SSL Encryption, there are
warnings that the information is coming from an Encrypted site but that
for some reason my Computer is not making use of SSL. I used Automatix1
\2 and Easy Ubuntu to add such things, but it does not seem to work! How
do you get this working? I'm using Ubuntu 6.06-1. Someone told me I
should use https:// if I want the info Encrypted!? Is this part of it
and true?
2) Clam-AV seems to be outdated. Freshclam looks like it is updating the
Clam -AV info, but in the System Log, what it is doing, is contacting a
URL, that does not exist anymore, and then it tries and fails, over and
over and over several hundred times a day.
3) In the Updating Software. The List of New Packages, each one has a
Check Mark in front of it. I do not want to install all of them, being
on Dial up, that could take a year or two. So I make an effort to
un-check, all but the ones I'd like to Install! After doing the Upgrade
of a few packages, it re-checks or places Check Marks in front of all
the Upgrade Packages again and again. Could this feature be re- tooled
so that only the Items I'd like to Install stay Checked, and all the
other stay unchecked?
I don't know Whom in Ubuntu I'd have to give this message to, to get
this little change made in the Updater. I would also find it handy, if
updater took care of Synaptic functions like Dependency. because the way
it is laid out, the files are just listed, but when you are making
Specific Installs, as it is, You don't know if all the dependencies have
been upgraded or not, with the upgrade software.
TIA (Thank You In-advance)
Alfred!
