Strange log in problem

Hi Marc
My problem was different, and I never got even to log in page.
I was running Windows XP and test loaded Ubuntu. Installation was flawless and I got the dual boot with no problems. Then I had a problem on Windows side and I decided to reformat that partition. On loading Windows, I lost the dual booting.
Ubuntu respects other OS while Windows shuts everyone else out.
Being a total newbie, and as it was a spare computer, I reformatted the entire disk and this time loaded Windows first and Ubuntu second. No problem. Now I have to figure out how to make manual decision which OS to start that session. Right now it goes to Ubuntu in x seconds automatically.
Loaded Ubuntu Version 6.06 LTS for your PC. I have no idea what my current updated version is and don't even know how to check for it.
regards
sammy
