Partitioning hard drive

Hi Laurie,
Ubuntu can partition the hard drive or you can use an external
partitioning program (like Partition Magic). If you've been using
Windows, I'd encourage you to defrag your drive before partitioning
and installing Ubuntu. There's been reports of problems when
partitioning fragmented drives.

Assuming you're using Windows right now, here's a handy website with
instructions: http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/installing

Hope this helps
