gOS machines & SPAM

Hi Patrick...I don't think your post was off-topic or SPAM.
You were posting about machines that are commercially available and that
run Linux...and that's a "good thing" for Ubuntu adoption (and for the
adoption of other Linux distros). The Linux distro that these
machines use "out of the box" is a Ubuntu derivative.
And you mentioned that you have a teeny-tiny "business" making use of
Ubuntu...and certainly other folks on the list are perfectly free to
"copy" your teeny-tiny business.
If there's a moderator of this list, perhaps they can pipe in with their
point of view...but I don't think this is SPAM at all.
Having said that, the Everex gOS machines are indeed available in
Canada...at "Tiger Direct"...they sell for around $260 last time I
looked.
Also, recently I've picked up an Asus "EeePC"...Linux-powered and
probably the hottest selling notebook in the world today. They're
being marketed in Canada by "The Source by Circuit City" (what used to
be Radio Shack). Out of the box they run a modified version of
Xandros...which while a bit "limiting", is very easy to use for a Linux
"newbie".
However, some folks have put out a beta version of "Xubuntu" that's been
especially designed for the Asus "EeePC". Once they get a few more of
the bugs worked out of it, I'll probably switch my EeePC to Xubuntu.
In any case, 2007 was the year that "pre-installed" Linux became
available from "big box" retailers for the first time. No doubt this
is going to pick up steam this year. And I think that's a good
thing...for all Linux distros and free software.
