hi laurie,
i just moved back and found i had to register my non-rogers mail
accounts with rogers before i could send mail out using their smtp
server. the instructions are here:

however i did get error messages back from the server when i had this
problem so maybe it's not what you're experiencing. how is your
evolution set up to send messages -- is it smtp or sendmail, and if
smtp, which smtp server is it set to, gmail's or rogers'? it will have
to be rogers i'm afraid.
