Security Certificates

Hi:
I've been having a problem with Security Certificates, on Ebay. Ebay
says that I'm using an outdated Browser or that the Root Certificate of
my browser has expired. That this is what is causing security
certificates to show up that are not from Ebay.
Firefox 3 had a few problems with Ebay Tools like Ebay Companion, not
working, reporting that Firefox 3 was the 64 bit version. Some people
on the Bug list fixed the problem for now. It is a problem in the
Binaries of Firefox 3
I'm using:
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8.1.14) Gecko/20080418
Ubuntu/7.10 (gutsy) Firefox/2.0.0.14 in 7.10 Gutsy. I did all the
security upgrades, and all the other upgrades except for the last 14,
some 50 megs, still to do. (Dial-up) I keep on getting a Security
Certificate Problem, where the Security Certificate does not belong to
Ebay. When I'm using a Credit Card. Don't really know what is going on.
The Web site is https:// Firefox does not report a fake web page, but it
reports that the security Certificate is from opendns, and that could
mean that it is from some other party. Yesterday, the transaction went
past that point, but Ebay says that I'm not a seller yet, so if this was
a hack by some one - I had my Credit Card Cancelled. Ubuntu does not
always use the latest things and I'm not sure what is going on with
this. Firefox 3 has lots of problems, with some add-ons, needed with
Ebay use.
How do I know that Firefox's Root Certificate is still valid? In this
version?
How do I know if Firefox Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US;
rv:1.8.1.14) Gecko/20080418 Ubuntu/7.10 (gutsy) Firefox/2.0.0.14 is
still up to date or outdated?
I've had this problem for a very long time, and deleting Cookies did not
do anything, I still got this error!
Is there some way around this, some work around. The newest version is
considered a Back-port. Version 3.1 of Firefox. I don't have it yet even
in 8.04.
How long does the root certificate of Firefox last? Is the version I
have outdated already? This version works well with Ebay tools, but I
get these bad certificates, all the time. Ebay says that, it might also
be a firewall problem, but didn't elaborate. I'm using Firestarter as
the firewall but I'm not real savy on creating a good script for it!
Anyone out there in the Ubuntu Users Community know about this stuff,
I'm sort of baffled, by it. Not sure what to make of it, and don't feel
real secure with all this "Electronic Security!"
Thank you in advance
Alfred!
