Nvidia, xgl and games on hardy

Good evening,

I haven't found any useful solution to my problem (or I'm just very bad at
"googleling")

as the title suggest, I have installed the latest driver with EnvyNG on
Hardy 8.04 Beta (I just installed it).

elwillow at synapse:~$ lspci | grep VGA
03:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation NV35 [GeForce FX 5900]
(rev a1)

I struggled a little to installed it and finally, it worked. but then I
couldn't play any games.

I had Feisty installed prior to the upgrade and my 2 games were working
perfectly:
EVE-Online have it's own client (actually a custom cedega)
UT 2K4 is native (no cedega or wine)

so, if I run the EVE test, (yeah the put that), the Open GL Direct redering
test fail but not the 3D acceleration.
if I run UT 2K4, graphic are all fucked up and weird. for example, I can see
through the Nvidia logo at the beginning.
For Eve, it load up, black screen and crash.

the nvidia-settings application tells me that my OpenGL is disable, so is
glxinfo.

elwillow at synapse:~$ glxinfo | grep direct
direct rendering: No (If you want to find out why, try setting
LIBGL_DEBUG=verbose)

no good, I know.

but then:

elwillow at synapse:~$ sudo glxinfo | grep direct
[sudo] password for elwillow:
direct rendering: Yes

I have direct rendering with GLX with the Root user.
I tried EVE, didn't let me run it as root. UT2K4, workswith graphic
glitches, less than before.

also, the fps of glxgears are better under root.
elwillow at synapse:~$ glxgears
24351 frames in 5.0 seconds = 4869.785 FPS
24152 frames in 5.0 seconds = 4830.241 FPS
elwillow at synapse:~$ sudo glxgears
34722 frames in 5.0 seconds = 6944.264 FPS
35170 frames in 5.0 seconds = 7033.949 FPS

now what? root have direct rendering and I don't.
any solution?
