Hello all,
Just wondering is anyone else has had this issue, or can help me
around it.
I'm trying to install Kubuntu 8.10 on an experimental netbook system
(VIA C7-M processor, runs 8.04 fine). I need to use the 'alternative
386' install disk as the video chipset isn't supported until I
manually add a VIA driver, so a text-based install works best. (The
VGA mode on the "desktop" install disk doesn't work on Kubuntu, though
it works on the Ubuntu disk.)
Unfortunately, on two different CD images downloaded from two separate
sources, and having the expected checksums, installs freeze at 6% into
the package installation, suddenly not being able to read the
(USB-attached) CD. I've been able to install other OSs (including 6.04
Ubuntu) without problems this way.
Any suggestions? Should I just wait until the proper 8.10 release
happens, and if so is there any ETA? Should I install Kubuntu 8.04 and
do a release upgrade?
Any suggestions are welcomed.
