kdubuntu upgrade, kde3 -> kde4, yuk

I have tried upgrade from kubuntu 8.04 "hardy" to 8.10 "intrepid". 
This did not go well. I got bumped from kde 3 to kde 4. The problem is kde 4 has not been configured from a user interface point of view to be compatible with kde3. 

I can not just completely change the user interface and expect people to be able to use it. kde 4 needs a kde 3 user interface compatibility mode or I need to stay with kde 3.

Will kde 3 be available on kubuntu?
