As 1ballistic1 said"Fear of looking like an idiot", I remember being new to
Gnu linux, there was a lot of stuff I didn't yet comprehend and the support
was minimal(back when ubuntuforums was a separate party from Ubuntu) and
there was minimal support. Back in 5.10/6.04 there wasn't much community
support(fix it yourself kind of approach), but now it's ridiculous how much
support there is(and most of it is free!!!).
When I promote ubuntu I tell the user that it's easy to use for webbrowsing,
email, word processing, chat and (now) installing software and if you have
problems there is a wide community that is willing to help out.
As I always say there are no dumb questions, only dumb answers
