Faces of Ubuntu developers - an observation

If you are concerned about the lack of gender diversity in the Ubuntu
project (that photo, incidentally, is everybody at UDS, which includes
documentation and community groups, not just developers), I'd encourage
you to join the Ubuntu Women project (http://ubuntu-women.com/). Their
mission is specifically to encourage women to participate in Ubuntu and
free software.
I'd also welcome suggestions on how Ubuntu Canada can do more to
encourage participation in Ubuntu by everyone, but also by women and
other under-represented groups as well. I've got ideas about things we
can do at the local level, but it comes down to people and time, as with
everything. I'm hopeful we can start working on things next year.
Also, we have an IRC meeting tomorrow night (8pm EST in #ubuntu-ca on
Freenode). There's not much on the agenda. You're welcome to come
pitch ideas about how to improve both participation and diversity in
participation. :)
Darcy.
