Wacom tablets, kernels and upgrades, oh my...

I just bought a Wacom Bamboo pen tablet model CTL-460 from Staples in
Edmonton. I intend to use it with my Acer Aspire One netbook running
10.04 and my old IBM Thinkpad T43 which currently runs the same.

I understand that the device is not currently supported out of the
box, but that it can be made to work with a bit of compiling and other
measures. I also read that the recently released 2.6.37 kernel should
support it, and that Natty Narwhal will have an even newer kernel and
handle it with no problem.

I have 30 days to return it, if I can't get it working, which won't
allow me to wait until the next version of Ubuntu comes out. Nor do I
want to run anything unstable on my job hunting systems.

Anybody had experience with one of these? Any suggestions or
advisories as to how I should proceed toward getting this handy dandy
little device working smoothly?

Thanks,

Ralph
