In addition to the below, have you tried a program to import them, such as F-Spot? (Not sure if it does video, but i'm pretty sure)

Raymond,
Thinking out loud,
Have you tried Windows or Mac to copy them?Have you accidentally locked them in properties? Is the card from a camcorder or Camera? can you play it on TV with adapters?
Sorry if I repeat any questions I'm trying to get up to speed. Can a computer copy them even if the format is unrecognized?Hang in there it may take a while to figure out. What about Clonezilla or dd, Mint, Hirens Boot CD, Ping, Ghost, Nero, Knoppix?
Ultimate boot CD, ERD commander, live CD?Just thinking outside the box.
Chris.

Very weird :/
I wonder if it might be something as simple as the card needing to be
freshly formatted?
I ran into this last week on my mother's mac - if you can, try
offloading the photos on another computer, formatting it, put something
on it, then try again on the toshiba.
Though if other folks are having weird SD/HC issues with the toshiba, I
might be out to lunch here :)
