Ubuntu derivatives : howto ?

Wow! < 200MB is a nice size even with OpenOffice etc included. We're 
thinking about adding a down-sized Ubuntu Live CD to TheOpenCD normal 
version (as opposed to the existing Ubuntu Live which has a downsized 
version of TheOpenCD ...)  We were thinking that we would be squeezed 
for space, but this looks promising. So, what has been removed to make 
it less than 1/3 the size of the original? Localisation stuff? (I'm 
downloading now to check it out.)
