[Ubuntu-eg] Android Emulator on Ubuntu ?

I have a 2.0 GHz Core 2 Duo processor with 2G RAM
The Android emulator is extremely slow and I can't use it, the Question is:
Is the emulator runs faster under Ubuntu ?! or it's as windows ?! and the problem is my hardware ?!
