[ubuntu-in] screen lock and then hibernate

Dear all)

I'm facing a strange problem since this morning, my system (ubuntu 10.04 
64bit ) suddenly gates screen locked.... as soon as I try to activate 
the system by entering the password system goes in to hibernation. I'm 
not able to do my routine work due to this pro.

what it could be ?
