I am affected too.
The reasoning: "Banshee will automatically shut down/terminate when you close its window after stopping playback, as part of the Sound Menu spec." is ridiculous. 
In Natty Banshee provides a menu item Media > Close (Ctrl+W). If one presses it, the execution of the program Banshee should close. Full stop. Instead, on my Natty computer Banshee continues to play songs.

  There is no real or proper way to shut down (terminate, completely close) Banshee.
  I tried the close button, ALT+F4, Ctrl+w, etc... even through the indicator applet, there is no way to do this.
