Most of these patches have already been rejected when submitted by
someone with more kernel kung-fu than me. A few of the patches are to
work around hardware issues -- the kernel devs generally don't accept
these type of patches.

It's possible that the EFI changes implemented for the coming 2.6.24
will eliminate some/all of the EFI patches. That will have to wait
until after 2.6.24 is released. There are so mainly changes with
2.6.24 that I'm afraid to go near it. I'll wait until the next
version, thank you.

Right now, I'm trying to minimize the changes required (both patches
and config) to get mythbuntu running. Next is to get an install
working.

So far, I can create a pre-partitioned disk and boot mythbuntu on a
doner system and get good install. I can then manually install a good
kernel in place of the standard kernel and get boot. X11 does not
work nor myth because of the kernel mismatch. So now I'm re-creating
the standard mythbuntu kernel with the patches and config changes.
This should give me a running mythbuntu. Once there, I can proceed
with solving the install issues.

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Kernel/Compile seems to outline a
proper method to make changes to a ubuntu distribution kernel so I'm
following that.
