Dear fellow Ubuntu users,

I am planning to buy an old powerbook g3 (wallstreet) being sold by a colleague. Its very cheap and I want to tinker with it with Ubuntu. This powerbook is very good at 266 mhz and 128 MB RAM. It has a cd drive and I think 8gb HD. It would be nice to install Ubuntu with this to make this usable. The current OS its running is OS 8.6. Its fast but start up is quite slow slower than Windows. But once it started, every apps are running relatively quick.

But I want Ubuntu in this and not the outdated OS 8.6. But the problem is this is still old world mac and it does not boot into the Ubuntu PPC version CD. How Tos over the net tells me that I need the original OS 8 or 9 installer so I can partition the HD and allocate space for Ubuntu.

Now does anybody in here have or know someone who has OS 8 or OS 9 installer for Mac? I would just use to partition the drive for me to install Ubuntu. Please if you know someone please give me a note, so I can arrange how to borrow it. It would be nice to have this old laptop breath in new life using the latest OS from Ubuntu.

  Thanks in advance.

  Wilson
