I am setting up Quasar for my business. I do not need the POS parts, so
I only need to open source part. This may be a little much for the OP
and his fund-raising efforts, but for a brick and mortar business like
the coffee shop... WOW! Though I can not speak for their register
stuff, the rest of it is fantastic.

I had an accountant (Uses a large accounting package that was made in
the Mid-West until it was purchased and destroyed by a computer company
from Seattle... You can figure out which one) who told me there were no
accounting packages for the Linux platform that were all that worth
while. And the free ones were not worth feeding to his dog. I sat him
down with Quasar, and he promptly shut up. Now he is seriously thinking
of how and if he should switch to Linux and Quasar for his moonlighting
business. I just love this stuff.

Too funny.

Bottom line, Quasar is a real business accounting system. The POS (i.e.
registers) are $500, without the POS is free. There are several How-Tos
on the Ubuntu Forums that give a blow by blow on how to set this beast
up. Unfortunately, it is not just a simple apt-get, but it is worth the
effort.
