Folks use so many names and handles, and sometimes I only know them by
one of those handles, so I'd also like to see people's nicks, wiki
pages, and launchpad ids so I can be reminded what they look like.
And also notes on what they want to do at the party.
That is relatively easy to do with the wiki, even if folks don't have
many of those fields.
A common complication with this sort of thing is authentication and
dealing with spam. We don't want folks to have to remember yet more
sites, login ids, passwords, etc. Or for spammers to add links to
their nastiness. The nice thing about the wiki is that it is already
integrated with launchpad, so folks can use the same info to
authenticate there, and spam is already dealt with in various ways.
Thankfully we're getting closer to a new option, as the much-heralded
openid integration of launchpad is "real close", so that we could
allow launchpad logins on our own web site to allow updates to the
info.
https://help.launchpad.net/OpenID
But again we might well want to allow anyone who logs in to update
information for others, e.g. visitors who may not even have a
launchpad page.
