The old DOS version was around a long time ago, but the new version is based
on OOo
"Symphony is available for Linux <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linux> and
Windows <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft_Windows>, and Mac OS
X<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mac_OS_X>.
It is based on Eclipse
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eclipse_%28software%29> Rich
Client Platform <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rich_Client_Platform> from IBM
Lotus Expeditor <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IBM_Lotus_Expeditor> for its
shell and OpenOffice.org <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OpenOffice.org> 1.1.4
for the core office suite
code.[1]<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lotus_Symphony#cite_note-0>OpenOffice.org
version 1.1.4 was dual licensed under both the GNU
Lesser General Public
License<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GNU_Lesser_General_Public_License>and
Sun's own
SISSL <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sun_Industry_Standards_Source_License>,
which allowed for entities to change the code without releasing their
changes. Therefore, IBM does not have to release the source code of
Symphony."
