Well, I'm not THAT desperate! (Actually, the goal will ultimately be to see
if Merge can monitor from an Android-based phone. Barring that, he'll
probably just stick with IE in its native environment rather than going
Linux.)
But waypoint number one on the road would be the ability to see the computer
from outside of his 192.168.xxx.xxx domain, and then to make sure he can see
it consistently at the same address via a DynDNS or similar service.
Last night, we were able to get the system so that Merge's son could see the
web interface -- menus, English and Chinese instructions, and a grid with 9
empty "channels". Locally, using a second Windows machine at the
restaurant, the first two channels were showing video, but at his home, all
of the grids were empty.
