Hope someone can help me out by pointing me in the right direction:
One of the principal things I've been using my Word processor for
for six or eight years
now is connected to me being Secretary of a Lodge I am a member of: to
write up meeting
minutes, compose the monthly bulletin/newsletter, and to make up flyers
and the like for
special events. So, I've pretty much always been a Novel, then Corel
WordPerfect user ---
now it will be whatever I eventually settle on as best in Open Source or
Free Software -
(yes, I'm aware that they are similar but not the same). [But that
belongs in its own thread,
very likely.
I realized, this evening, that Oo.o's fonts collection in its word
processor is rather severely
limited. I came to this realization by way of attempting to find a
'Diploma-' or 'Olde English-'
type font in the program's installed collection. Its own help feature
didn't seem (to me) to
offer any (help that is, let alone any) clue as to where to get
additional fonts - should the need
for them arise.
So far, have not had a look at nor a test run of AbiWord Word
Processor -- so I can't say whether
it's the same, better, worse, nor anything else.
Aside from advice as to where to get fonts, I'd appreciate reading
your opinions of the available
Word Processors for Linux. (I wonder, since they had their own div for
Linux at one point) if
there is a linux version available of WordPerfect --- though it very
likely would be very hindered
by copyright restrictions.......? (note to myself - go to Corel web site
try to search for WPLinux,
or something....)
Thank you all for all your help for me and for one another,
~~~~~~~~~George
