Good evening everyone!
I was having an issue changing the pointer theme on my 8.10 64-bit
installation and found a fix for it so I thought I would share. I can admit,
its a menial issue, but when something that has worked in previous versions
without a fuss suddenly doesn't work in an newer version, I take note.
No matter how many times I tried changing it from the System -> Preferences
-> Appearance -> Theme Tab (default) -> Customize -> Pointer menu in my
installation, the theme wouldn't change. I found this tip in the Ubuntu
forum archives that I decided to try out. After trying what the thread says
and restarting, it worked!
If you:
1) Go to System > Preferences > CompizConfig Settings Manager
2) Click on "General Options"
3) Under the "General" tab, there is an entry called "Cursor theme", which
for me was set to "default"
4) Clear this box and restart
Hope this helps anyone else running into this problem!
