I was just thinking about sending something out to see if everyone was 
still alive. There hasn't been any traffic for a while.

What's everyone been up to?

A short time ago I picked up a little Compaq laptop and was thinking 
about trying Kubuntu on it. Well, long story short, it wasn't really 
worth it on that one. BUT, I did manage to get a nice little Gateway. 
1GHz, 384 Meg. At the time of install I didn't have that much memory and 
the "live CD install" wouldn't work. Some on the kubuntu list suggested 
the alternate install CD and it worked a charm. [ I didn't even know 
about one ] IMHO, the install CD's are misnamed. The "alternate" should 
be the standard install CD. Anyway, the laptop loaded up just great. I 
had a minor issue with the wifi card. I was making much more of it than 
it turned out to be. So I'm a happy camper now.
