Looks to me as though your monitor is telling the video card (through
the EDID protocol) that the max horizontal sync is 71. Looks like the
nvidia driver dutifully changes to match those values. I don't know if
it can be overriden or not. Perhaps windows is not paying attention to
the EDID protocol, and you are overdriving your monitor on windows?
I took a look at my own X log, and I don't have any messages at all
related to EDID. Maybe this monitor doesn't support EDID, and perhaps
that's why I had to set my own hsync and vrefresh in the config file.
