The focus so far has been on developers of distributions. I've not
noticed that there is any intention to create a distro for any class of
_users_ though inevitably something of the kind will emerge if only as
examples.

Take a look at what the _standard_ software set is. Installing off a
single CD doesn't give much scope for being all things to all users.

Userlinux cut me (and other dialup users) off by not having an install
CD of any consequence: you download everything off the 'net.
Progeny is addressing a different audience. It would be possible (and
probably a good idea) to package Ubuntu as aa Progeny component, and add
further components for KDE and various combinations of developer tools.
In pricimple, and it's the declared intent, I (the end user) can use the
same install procedures to install debian-based and RH-based distroes.
