gnome keyboard layout

I just installed Hoary preview. I tried to change the keyboard layout 
in /etc/X11/xorg.conf
Now, every time I'm starting Gnome, Im getting this :

It's now impossible to get a proper keyboard layout, even when trying to 
switch from Gnome's "Keyboard Preferences" dialog.

Any clue ?
